Retail Pricing Analyst

About the role

With a rapidly growing customer base, Avantia is looking for a talented pricing analyst to join the commercial team, reporting to our Pricing and Commercial Lead. The primary focus of the role is the optimisation of trading performance on Price Comparison Websites and the Avantia Website, utilising customer segmentation, predictive modelling and strategic price testing. As a pricing analyst, you will work with bespoke tooling built inhouse, deploying and seeing the results of any price changes within a matter of days. You will also be responsible for monitoring and improving customer retention and profitability. The role is ideal for someone with strong quantitative skills and an appetite to learn about the latest pricing techniques being used in high volume trading environments

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyse trading data and produce pricing recommendations to improve the competitiveness and profitability of all new business quotes
  • Conduct data driven customer segmentation to better identify high and low yield customer groups
  • Analyse the performance of the renewal book identifying ways to improve customer retention rate
  • Investigate, build and improve our MI to help us understand the different conversion funnels across our business
  • Assist in the build and deployment of predictive retail pricing models to maximise margin
  • Assist in the creation and deployment of retail price tests to identify areas of the market where sales performance can be improved
  • Help define the long-term retail pricing strategy

Requirements

  • High quality (2:1 or above) numerate degree (mathematics, physics, engineering, etc.). Degrees from other disciplines will be considered for those who can demonstrate very strong quantitative skills or unique skills working on a high volume trading environment
  • At least two years’ experience working with large data sets in an analytical role
  • Experience extracting data from a data warehouse using SQL
  • Excellent data manipulation and reporting skills using SQL and MS Excel
  • Any experience with open source tooling such as R or Python will be beneficial but is not essential (although a willingness to learn is)
  • Be able to condense the outputs of complex analysis in a way that can be communicated to the wider business
  • Able to establish and maintain effective business relationships with key stakeholders in all areas of the business
